Using Floor Tile on Walls
The short answer: Using floor tile on walls is okay, but to ensure a beautiful edge, it isn't recommended.
The long answer: Floor tile can safely be used on your walls but they have a potential disadvantage. Floor tile isn't made with the same trim pieces that are made available with wall tile, such as quarter-rounds or bullnose pieces.
For you that means, the floor tile will not have round edges. There are however 3 alternatives:

1. Buy trim pieces separately. There is no trick to this, just find the trim tiles that you like. The one on the left is a quarter-round while the one on the right is a bullnose piece.
2. Install your backsplash all the way up to your cabinets or ceiling.
3. Use Schluter Systems Rondec metal trim as the edge piece. This metal trim acts as an aesthetic, protective piece that rounds off the edge of wall tile.
